IT has quickly become the backbone of every business. If an IT problem occurs, it can affect every department, closing down day to day operations until it has been fixed. Thankfully, most common IT problems have simple answers. Here are five issues that commonly affect businesses that often have easy fixes.
Slow internet.
The most widely seen causes are malware or a virus infecting your devices, quite possibly both. You should already have strong protection software in place to safeguard your client’s sensitive data. By running a deep scan, you should be able to identify and erase any problems found.
Check your program list for any software you don’t remember installing and delete it. If these steps can’t solve the problem, you may need to invest in another more specialized security tool.
Can’t log into your account.
Ok – this is basic, but have you left caps lock on? Misspelled your password? Accidentally used an older password? Once you’ve triple checked all your entries are right, it’s time to call customer support. Your account may have been suspended due to failed logins but your IT department can check and reset your account and password quickly and easily.
Can’t print from the web.
Trying to print out those web-based documents can be frustrating. Pop up blockers on your device can stop printing so before anything else, try allowing temporary pop ups. Some documents may be rights protected by a password and can’t be printed off. This could be a task for your IT team.
Device won’t sync with my tablet/laptop.
This can be a major problem if anyone in your business works remotely and tries to sync programs. To make sure this doesn’t happen, try to carry out smaller, regular syncs rather than try one huge sync. If you do have to sync a large amount of data, expect it to take a little bit of time to work.
Download/reject updates if they don’t match the device you’re trying to sync with, and make sure all other programs are closed during the sync and backup process as this can stop completion. Double check the sync icon to make sure your data matches and always have a backup of your data in the cloud. If all else fails, manually attach your phone to your device and sync that way.
Spinning beach ball of death.
Anyone who uses a Mac will recognize this as the response when an app is overloading. The same thing happens on a PC. There are 2 causes. Hardware problems your computer can’t handle the app, maybe because you do not have enough RAM to run it properly. Your computer will try to move memory around to make it work, thus the long wait time. If this constantly occurs, you may need an upgrade.
You can also try turning it off and on again, as it could be a software cause. If the app you’re opening has a lot of data or is incompatible, your computer will go into meltdown. Update or restart your software and try again!
It’s frustrating to have technical difficulty, especially in time sensitive situations. Knowing a few easy fixes will help you limit your visits with the IT department and save you the headaches.
